Limited availability, reserve early. "Cord-free. Hassle-free." This is a good summary of our use of the Dyson V7 Animal Cordless Vacuum Cleaner. We have used this vacuum cleaner at Bouge Petit for several months and it is remarkable to see how many of our customers ask us our opinion on it. So we decided to share our analysis here. The V7 vacuum is not our first experience with Dyson products. We started with the Dyson DC36 vacuum cleaner, a wired model. Although handy, this model was not particularly practical with its short electric wire. In addition, its dustbin emptying system was not very easy to use. The main feature of the Dyson is the bagless dust bin. This makes the use of these vacuum cleaners very convenient as there is no need to buy bags. In addition, Dyson vacuums are well known for their power and efficiency. After our Dyson DC36, we had our first experience of cordless vacuum with the model Dyson V6. However, this model had a problem and the suction hose sometimes blocked. Two V6 vacuum cleaners tested had the same problem. It seems that the V7 model fixes that. After a charge of about 3 hours, the V7 vacuum is ready for use. The device is well in hand and weighs 5.2 pounds, which is light enough to walk the device up the stairs. You simply press the red button to start the device. Everything is very intuitive; even our two years old started using the vacuum cleaner to help us! There is another switch button which defines the power of the device: either regular or maximum (MAX). At regular power, you can count up to 30 minutes of battery life. In maximum power, the duration is much shorter, up to about 8 minutes.
The "V7 Animal" model comes with a motorized brush. There are other V7 models with different brushes, like the Dyson V7 Motorhead and the Dyson V7 Absolute. In our case, even if the model bears the word "Animal" and we do not have animals at Bouge Petit (except plastic ones), the brush is very effective to clean all of our space. The brush is excellent, especially on carpets, where the dirt comes to settle. To do a good cleaning of carpets, it is sometimes necessary to activate the power with MAX. That's when you feel the power of this cordless vacuum cleaner. A transparent bin picks up dust and gives a quick indication whether to empty it. To empty it, it's very simple: put the bin over a trash can and pull the red tab on the top of the device. Everything falls directly in the trash and generally there is nothing left to get with the fingers. Then close the tray and that's it! The device comes with other small accessories that allow for a thorough cleaning. You can even use the device without the large suction hose, which allows use like a portable mini vacuum cleaner. The Dyson V7 Animal Vacuum cleaner is available at an approximate price of $500. Note that sometimes it can be found at a discount in-store and online. Our opinion: The Dyson V7 Animal Cordless Vacuum Cleaner is a significant improvement over wired vacuum cleaners. Faster to use, no wires to plug/unplug, good power for most needs. In short, we cannot do without it! The price may seem a little high, but if you compare all the benefits, it's worth it. There is also a newer and powerful V8 model, but also a little more expensive. Hope this will help you in your decision! Feel free to share your experience with your favorite vacuum cleaner in our comments section below. Looking for an original gift idea for new parents? Whether it is to play instead of eating, watch TV a little more or avoid going to bed, all the reasons are good for your little one not to respect your instructions! We can give another "5 minutes" in front of the television, but the concept of time is not yet something well defined in their head. This is probably the best time to add a timer to their routine. Many daycares already use this trick for playtime, so why not apply it at home? We tested it with our 3 year old and the success was remarkable! In our case, we chose the timer "Time Timer PLUS". A timer designed for children with a very clear and intuitive interface for toddlers. It allows up to 60 minutes. It costs about $45. In just a few weeks, our little one learned to set by himself the period of time we allow him. For example, we say "10 minutes of television" and he turns the wheel to the allowed duration. The timer has another wheel on the back to determine the sound level of the buzzer. This is very useful for setting the timer quiet when his baby brother sleeps in the next room. When the timer rings (and often even before the end of the period), our little one already starts to put away his toys or plans turning off the television. When it rings, he says "TV over" and he presses the red button on the remote to turn off the TV. This is an incredible change from our non-timer experiments, where we were entitled to cries even after several "other 5 minutes" extensions. With the timer, our little anticipates even the end of the period and he already knows that he must finish his activity. Of course, you must first take the time to explain to your child the operation of the timer and the reason for its use. This will require a few tries before having a conclusive result, but be patient! Alternatively, you can use an application on your phone. However, the result is not as good as your child does not necessarily associate your phone only as a timer and it is preferable that your child can himself define the duration allowed. Your child will be happy to have this responsibility in hand! Share with us your experience of using a timer with your child! Is there a "good time" for getting into business? The answer is "no". There is no magic moment for starting a business. In general, it is a mixture of circumstances, luck and a lot of work.
The next question, if you are a parent of young children, is: Should I get into business now? Because if there is a time when everything does not seem to line up for starting a business, it's when you have your hands full of diapers! Surprisingly, from our own experience as entrepreneurs-parents, it's not easier or more difficult to get into business with or without children. It's all about adapting. The human being adapts according to his environment. Without children, we work like crazy 12 to 15 hours a day for our startup. With children, we work less, but perhaps more effectively, because we learn to juggle all the challenges of being parents. We learned several lessons from our creation of Bouge Petit. When we started the business, our youngest was only a few weeks old and our oldest one and a half years old. We certainly had our hands full! But our new project, the creation of Bouge Petit, has brought us a beneficial side to our family life. Having a project, in parallel to caring for the children, made each day a stimulating one. It was not just a matter of diapers! We would go so far as to say: is there not a better time to go into business than when you become parents? For example, during maternity leave, this gives an opportunity to start a small business. A hobby or passion can become the subject of a business plan. A few hours a day well used can lead away. Warning: everything is not pink and it is difficult to manage family and business. You have to surround yourself with people of trust and become an expert in managing your schedule. It is also necessary to determine your level of risk, because success is never guaranteed in advance. But you still have to get out of your comfort zone to get into business. Now that several months have passed since the opening of Bouge Petit, we are confident that becoming parents and entrepreneurs is not only a dream, but can become a reality for many. Life already changes with a child, so why not take advantage of it to change your professional life too? You must remain realistic, but you must know how to be audacious. This mix can take you far!
